An experienced Non-Executive Director, Trustee and Consultant with particular skills and experience in strategy and proposition development, pensions, remuneration and investment. NED for LPFI, the FCA regulated asset management subsidiary of Lothian Pension Fund, and LPFE, the personnel and remuneration subsidiary of the fund. Trustee and NED of City & Guilds Group (C&G), member of the Remuneration and Investment Committees and Chair of the Pensions Sub-Committee. C&G are a non-profit, £140M turnover vocational education provider operating in over 100 countries. Vice-Chair, Trustee Director and Finance Committee Member for the Scottish Book Trust (SBT) which operates to encourage a love of reading and writing across Scotland. Andy has highly developed skills in strategy development and execution, gained whilst leading numerous significant business units. More recent experience as a trustee, director, consultant and interim has further honed these skills. This has equipped Andy with the ability to quickly assess and review strategies across a wide range of markets and business models and to effectively challenge and support their leaders. He is known for being able to summarise complex issues in a simple way and making pragmatic assessments of possible solutions. As a board director and member of multiple governance committees, at Direct Line and Aegon UK, Andy gained a strong understanding of effective governance and learnt to contribute effectively in this environment before being able to successfully apply this as a Trustee and NED. As an executive he served on the Boards of Direct Line Financial Services Ltd. and Scottish Equitable Trustees Ltd. and was a member of the Aegon Investment, Management and Risk Committees. His experience allows him to effectively contribute to thinking and direction on leadership, strategy, planning, operations, customer service, process improvement, sales, change management and cost management. He has particularly deep experience and understanding of marketing including customer insight, product and proposition development, brand development, communications and sponsorship, channel management and pricing. His sector experience primarily lies in retail financial services and more recently the education and literary sectors. He has extensive experience of retail banking, insurance and life and pensions with detailed knowledge of the markets for corporate and individual pensions. He has extensive experience in DB and DC pension governance, funding and investment strategy.
