Variety is what drives me, both technically and geographically, and I\'ve fortunate to have experienced a wide range of challenging and interesting project and management/leadership roles. I believe strongly in the role good transport planning can play is shaping our community, economy and environment. Managing the design of the Malahide Road bus lane probably gave me the greatest pleasure, technically and because it proved to be so effective for buses, cyclists and taxis, but I always take great pride in identifying and supporting new talent. I am a keen advocate of evidence based analysis and building on best practice to plan our transport systems efficiently.

37 years experience in transport planning and public transport operational planning. Typically a Project Director or Technical Specialist, but always keen to help team culture and help drive talent recruitment/retention. Also helps with change and business development activities, when not being asked to be the \'ambulance at the bottom of the cliff\'. Specialising in multi-modal and transport/land use integrated studies/business cases, public transport and active mode projects and concept design/operational \'stuff\'. Enjoys convincing stakeholders of the merits of solutions that they would not otherwise thought were possible, particularly ones involving both new as well as old ways of doing things. Uses LinkedIn selectively, prefers a coffee chat and facilitating good old fashioned face to face workshops!
