About Andy Kropa

Andy Kropa is a visual artist and technology entrepreneur from Brooklyn, NY. He is the founder of Soundmind Intelligence, which uses voice controlled devices to positively impact the aging experience. Andy is a 2015 awardee of the Creative Capital for Hacking Alzheimer\'s, a lifelogging app to mitigate memory loss. As a documentary photographer, he is a pioneer in using wearable cameras like Google Glass, Narrative Clip and Snapchat Spectacles as a means of personal inquiry. His work has been widely published and exhibited both domestically and internationally.\"If You Say Goodbye To Me\" a multimedia piece about his mother\'s battle with Alzheimer\'s disease was shown at The Art of Idea Festival exhibit at 21c Museum in Louisville, KY. Andy is also a 2013 Fellow of the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism. He earned a Masters of Design from the Institute of Design in Chicago, IL and his BA in Art History from Grinnell College in Iowa. Since moving to New York for an internship at Magnum Photos in 2001, he has worked for Redux Pictures, the Village Voice, Getty Images, Associated Press and others, and for private clients including the United State Department of Education.
