ABOUT ANDY IRELAND
I retired from full time school leadership in August 2024 following 32 years of teaching experience including 16 years of headship in a wide range of settings. I have a proven successful record of leadership of complex organisations in addition to management of large financial budgets and workforces. I have a rich experience of inclusive school leadership, strategic planning and effective monitoring for the sustained benefit of all young people. My experience extends across governance, leadership, and management of organisational change. My classroom teaching was recognised as outstanding. In middle and senior leadership positions I have gained considerable experience of curriculum development, improvement of teaching and learning in addition to the strategic, operational, financial, and statutory responsibilities of school leadership. I have had the privilege of leading secondary schools to rapid and sustained improvement. Leading in both a cross-phase pupil referral unit and a range of mainstream secondary schools gives me an unusual and wide-ranging skill set enhance further by me leading on system change for inclusion with a Local Authority. I now support young people, leaders and leadership teams, and schools as a consultant.
