About Andy Cockrell

Andrew graduated from the University of Liverpool, England, with an honors degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics. He has spent the past 34 years working on subsea production and workover systems. During the past twelve years he has been employed by major Operators (BP, Tullow Oil) after working for Cameron for 8 years. Prior to this, he spent periods of time working with a number of other major subsea specialist companies. Andrew has represented major oil companies as their client representative on projects in the UK North Sea, West Africa, and in the US Gulf of Mexico. He has lived and worked in four continents (Europe, Asia, Australasia, and the USA) and has experience at supplier, EPC contractor, and Operator levels. Andrew’s work was initially directed more towards the electrical and electronic design aspects of subsea control systems (including software development) but over the years he has developed an extremely widespread knowledge of equipment and systems. Andrew’s experience now covers wellheads, Christmas trees, manifolds and connection systems, chokes, actuators, ROV interfaces, umbilicals, and overall system design considerations, in addition to the control system expertise that lies at the core of his career path. Currently, Andrew is the Lead Control System Engineer for Tullow Oil’s Jubilee Full Field Development project (project located in Ghana). This role entails oversight of design and delivery of subsea production control system equipment which is being manufactured by FMC in Houston.
