I feel extremely lucky to be in my dream job as a Captain for Delta Air Lines here in the US. Before Delta, I had a 13 year career in the Royal Air Force in England, which focused mostly around flying the Shadow R1 in the surveillance role. I was honored to be able to teach and examine on that platform before leaving England for the US.The transition from the British Military to the US Airline industry required a lot training and examinations that resulted in now three pilot licenses, of which two will be gathering dust for the foreseeable future. I’m very happy to be here, and the journey was more than worth it!I’m here on LinkedIn to connect with current and former colleagues, and to try and shed some light to my former colleagues about their options should they consider leaving the military. All too often the information is hidden in the dark. Leaving the RAF isn’t too scary, the training isn’t all that difficult, but I can assure you there are some fantastic opportunities out there with companies that would love your skill set.
