About Andrey Kolobov
I am a Principal Researcher and Research Manager at Microsoft Research, striving to improve people\'s lives by making robots a helpful part of everyday reality. I lead MSR\'s Physically Embodied AI & Robotics team. Research-wise, I focus on decision-making for physically embodied AI. In my 11-year post-PhD research career so far, I have studied most major types of AI decision-making approaches: online and offline RL, imitation learning, planning, scheduling, and model-predictive control. My research has gone beyond simulated benchmarks, enabling these techniques to work in systems as dissimilar as transformer model-driven robotic manipulators, Ardupilot-controlled drones, the Edge browser, and the Bing search engine\'s Web crawler - systems that were shipped as products, featured in Nature Communications, and covered by the New York Times.
