ABOUT ANDREW WILSON

I am a Director of Compliance for Refinitiv (formerly the Financial & Risk division of Thomson Reuters).I provide global sanctions and export controls compliance advice across five discrete business units as well as supporting our enterprise teams. As a manger with nine years experience gained in consultancy and industry I have also worked with organisations of all sizes from SME\'s to large FTSE100 and Fortune 500 organisations. This experience has exposed me to a wide variety of regulatory jurisdictions and organisational structures and has has enhanced my understanding of how to quantify risk and how to design compliance solutions relevant to the scale and scope of the regulatory and organisational complexities that arise in global trade. Reporting to the Global Head of Export Controls and SVP Enterprise Compliance for sanctions issues, I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated manager with a strong desire to help both internal and external clients succeed in managing their export control and sanctions compliance risk. Facilitating trade in a compliant manner whilst educating teams on prohibited transactions is core to my role. I have acquired sanctions and export control compliance experience in both consulting and industry environments and always seek to utilise leading practice methodologies to support business operations in a compliant manner. I am equally comfortable working as part of a project team or as a project lead. With a specialisation in encryption controls I have experience in the following regulatory jurisdictions: UK (HMT & BIS), US (BIS, OFAC, ITAR), Canada (EIPA & SEMA), France (SBDU & ANSSI), Germany (BAFA), Netherlands (CDIU), Russia (FSB), China (SEMB), India (SCOMET), Switzerland (SECO), Singapore (SGCL - Singapore Customs) and Hong Kong (STC - HK TID).
