About Andrew Whitmire

With nearly two decades dedicated to the educational non-profit sector, I\'ve had the privilege of donning various leadership hats, steering global youth-serving organizations and foundations towards impactful outcomes.As the current Manager of Grants & Partnerships at the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation, I helm the foundation\'s grant-making initiatives, orchestrating support for over 15 youth-serving non-profit partners. Our collaborative efforts reach millions of young minds worldwide through dynamic project-based learning programs, skillfully integrating project management tools to foster essential life skills in youth.Previously at Destination Imagination, Inc, my journey traversed multiple departments, evolving from a college student summer camp counselor to the role of Director of Strategic Partnerships & Advancement. Here, I spearheaded efforts that garnered millions in funding, aligning resources with the organization\'s mission and fostering global partnerships. Overseeing philanthropic relationships and strategy, I played a pivotal role in shaping the organization\'s impact.In my capacity as Associate Director of Educational Experiences, I led the conceptualization and execution of all educational programming at Destination Imagination. During this time, I collaborated with renowned organizations such as the Walt Disney Company, the United States Air Force, National Geographic Society, and more, to develop engaging learning programs. My journey also took me around the globe, delivering keynote presentations, training educators, and participating in educational conferences—an experience I cherish.Beyond the boardroom, I contribute my time to impactful causes, volunteering with organizations like National Geographic, InventEd, and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Philadelphia, along with staying connected to my alma mater, The College of William & Mary.Certified as a Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute and an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America, my academic journey began at the College of William & Mary, where I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing with a concentration in Accounting. Yet, it was my formative years as a K-12 Destination Imagination participant that equipped me with the skills to navigate my successful career journey.
