About Andrew Staggs

First and foremost, I am passionate about Accounting. I look to continuously improve Accounting practices, personally and for my company. I focus on key results and quickly adapt to new insights. Now cast into the role as the Controller, I find it important to grow myself as well my direct reports. There is great value in a collaborative working environment, and it is one I aim to foster! I am leader in my field. Nowadays, an employee is as valuable as the knowledge about the programs they employ everyday. I pride myself on leading an international implementation of the expense reporting program SAP Concur at a previous employer at the beginning of my professional career. I was the primary driver in said implementation, including building the desired look for the company, tying in the program with the ERP system we used (QAD), generating the work instructions and refining the processes, and rolling out and teaching the whole company how to use the completely new program. Overall, the implementation was a great success and a great challenge for my professional character early on. Specifically about me, I am a Wayne State graduate with a degree in Accounting, a B.S. in Business Administration (May 2018) & an MBA degree with an Accounting Concentration from Louisiana State University (May 2021). I have experience in many facets of GL accounting & AP/AR, including the preparation of Financial Statements & leading our annual financial audit.

   Ensure the integrity of the accounting department by establishing effective, standardized accounting procedures and processes. • Ensure the conservation of the corporate assets by developing, implementing, and maintaining accurate, timely, and efficient audit systems. • Produce financial statements to be forwarded for consolidation to the parent company, being solely responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the information provided. • Support the development of the annual and quarterly budgets. Provide monthly variance analysis with explanations that include financials and key performance indicators. • Establish and update procedures and internal controls in the areas of finance, cost accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting. • Maintain oversight over A/R, A/P, payroll, procedures and policies, expense controls, business insurances, and cash management. • Support internal compliance reviews and audits, working directly with the external auditors and corporate staff. • Supervises and directs the work of the accounting team • Additional projects as required.
