About Andrew Sheppard

Licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas (and pending in others), I spent my first 11+ years in the oil and gas industry with a focus on industrial and marine systems. I took a layoff at the start of COVID as an opportunity to change industries and have since flourished as an MEP engineering consultant to the construction industry. Along the way somewhere I discovered a gift to converse with people, and have taken a leadership role, both in developing new clients and helping to manage an office of approximately 30 people, give or take.My experience across oil and gas and construction industries has provided me with a unique skillset. I have a technical knowledge with process pumps, piping, lifting equipment, hydraulics, and marine equipment and propulsion systems. The offshore drilling rig presents a wide breath of technical equipment to support 200-people on a floating hotel that also includes a chemical process plant and a partially automated factory of heavy hydraulic equipment.Since shifting to being an MEP consultant, my extensive technical background in industrial, MEP, and rotational equipment has been a great foundation for anything technical construction consulting throws at me. The practice at Terracon focuses on commissioning, remedial design, assessments, and diagnostics of commercial real estate. We do building science. And we\'re good at it. Terracon has a Facilities team that includes not only MEP, but structural, roofing, and enclosure specialties, that can holistically help you diagnose and solve your problems. Working with like-minded professionals has grown my knowledge base well beyond just the RTU and taken me to some of the most interesting places the majority of the public never gets to see.Becoming a consultant and getting out from behind the computer has been a great change of pace for my career. Connecting with clients and growing the Facilities group within an established company known for it\'s other service lines has been an interesting, but fun challenge. When you can do it all, strategizing on the right growth segments and targeting clients is an art that takes careful consideration.
