About Andrew Mattheus
As a Cryptologic Technician (Technical) Chief Petty Officer and a distinguished 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, I’ve specialized in Cryptologic and Electronic Warfare operations, supported by an active TS/SCI clearance. Throughout my career, I’ve led and executed complex missions in Information Operations, Computer Network Defense, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), RF Spectrum Management, and Personnel Management. My roles have required seamless coordination with National, Fleet, and Operational-level commands, including critical contributions to Naval Special Warfare Direct Action missions and NATO joint operations.Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity from UMGC and maintain industry-recognized certifications including CompTIA Security+, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, and AWS SysOps Administrator Associate. In my current role as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, I focus on automating infrastructure and deployment workflows using Amazon-managed services such as Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), alongside open-source tools like Terraform and RKE2. I build and maintain custom Docker images and deploy them within Kubernetes pods, leveraging observability tools including Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and Kibana to support system monitoring and logging. I support Department of Defense projects operating in secure cloud environments, managing systems up to DoD Impact Level 6 (IL-6) in accordance with the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG). I also develop and maintain the System Security Plan (SSP) for our cloud infrastructure and regularly patch and remediate vulnerabilities identified through security tools such as Splunk, Nessus, Tenable, Trivy, and other cybersecurity scanners. My work emphasizes scalable, secure, and mission-critical DevOps practices aligned with the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence.
