Managed Laser Power Bed (LPBF) and Wire Arc Direct Energy Disposition (WA-DED) efforts with sister company Newport News, validating AM component feasibility with company and government stakeholders • Conducted investigation into using hybrid method of producing parts utilizing both forging & AM methods in combination, in accordance with Navy Technical Publication guidance extending potential end uses of AM• Analyzed vendor data & report verifying Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) as a suitable processing tool & procured certifying documentation & implementation to be used in the wider MIB improving material quality for CuNi parts • Orchestrated manual part transitions from casted to AM across organizational divides aligning part stakeholders, the Navy, print house vendors, & Electric Boat senior leadership to allow AM parts to be installed on future boats• Spearheaded the creation of a project validating fused deposition modeling (FDM) for polymer AM components speeding up production times by 40% while being mechanical competitive with traditional manufacturing methods • Analyzed unknown plastic material and initiated material characterization tests to determine suitable replacement material to improve performance and longevity, saving per part by manufacturing in-house • Designed composite laminate thicknesses for fairing superstructures on Virginia Class Submarines validated with finite element analysis (FEA) extending part lifespan by more than 33% with minimal upkeep• Managed process, procedural and technical support on Bow Dome fabrication for Columbia Class providing onsite presence at vendor locations as well as orchestrating meetings for crucial POAM items• Overhauled knowledge management systems as continuous improvement coordinator to facilitate the ability to access previously obscured information to improve first time quality • Provided insight for cognizant engineers on specialty polymers to be optimized based on system environment
