Leidos is a large employees) multinational IT services company, specialising in government and defence contracts. I was employed to build a distributed development team to walk in and take over from an incumbent supplier of a very large and critical national infrastructure system for the commencement of a 10 year contract. The programme after WITO numbered over 200 people within Leidos. I directly manage 9 people in the development team covering Java, middleware (WPS, MQ) and database technologies (DB2, Oracle). In addition to running the development team, I also have line management responsibilities for a number of engineers working on other projects. Day to day the team works in an agile manner, moving between Scrum, with myself acting as scrum master, and Kanban depending on the current workload although the wider programme is Waterfall.
