He was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Scholar to Ecuador, where he investigated and developed regulatory solutions to problems resulting from artisanal and small-scale mining in the country.Andrew holds a B.S. in Geological Sciences from the University of Notre Dame and M.S. in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and started his career as a geologist and paleontologist. After obtaining his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School, he joined an Am Law 200 law firm, where he provided legal counsel on environmental review, permitting, and wildlife for mining and energy projects and led related litigation efforts.
