About Andrew P. Doup

Andrew is legal counsel to founders of new and emerging businesses, real estate developers, fund managers, and private investors, advising clients on how to organize, capitalize, and invest into the next generation of business ventures through private equity, venture capital, and real estate syndications. He focuses his practice on private investment finance and has extensive experience with federal and state securities regulation involving exempt offerings, advising on private equity fund formation, private placement memorandums, subscription agreements, and SEC and state \"blue sky\" filings. He takes special interest in identifying generational changes in the law, imagining how they can improve the well-being of clients, colleagues, and the community, and leading collaborative efforts across a diverse group of stakeholders. In 2018, Andrew established a cross-disciplinary practice to explore how federal tax reform could incentivize the investment of private money into the communities that need it most, and has since grown this practice into a nationally ranked Top 25 practice. In addition to experimenting with legal innovation, Andrew enjoys sharing his interests with a broad range of stakeholders. He is a frequent author and speaker on topics of business, investment, and tax law on a range of local and national platforms. Andrew also serves on the legal affairs committee of Damascus, Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that offers camps, retreats, and resources that helps people live the adventure of the Catholic faith. In 2022, he was an honoree in Columbus Business First’s “40 Under 40” and is selected to the “Ones to Watch” list by Best Lawyers. Prior to joining the legal profession, Andrew was an intelligence officer in the United States Air Force, having served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He continues his military service part-time as a lieutenant colonel in the Ohio Air National Guard. He earned his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, and a bachelor’s degree from Miami University (OH).
