Advise students of their rights, privileges and obligations as UM-D and COB students, especially with regard to their specific degree program requirements.• Advise students on course selection as appropriate to their degree program.• Recommend appropriate course of action, as well as specific services and programs on campus, available to students.• Implement and administer specific student services programs, such as Orientation• Represent the College of Business at academic functions and advising related committees.• Act as liaison for the College of Business with other UM-D academic units and service units such as Admissions, Registrar’s, Financial Aid, START, and Career Services.• Coordinate and participate in recruitment activities.• Provide information regarding COB admission requirements.• Evaluate admission credentials and recommend admission decisions.• Serve on College’s Scholarship Committee.• Review, evaluate, and recommend students for COB scholarships.• Review and monitor the academic standing and progress of students.• Identify problems with respect to students’ academic records, degree progress, scholastic standing and ability to meet degree requirements.• Initiate an academic audit of all senior students and provide a detailed term-planning guide for each individual student.• Interpret for and direct students through the petition process as relates to their academic record and standing.• Resolve and correct problems with student records.• Verify eligibility to receive a degree.• Identify problems and initiate correspondence to notify candidates of deficiencies that might preclude inclusion on the degree list.• Advise course of action to maintain eligibility for a degree.• Review existing advising procedures and develop new and efficient methods of advising.• Respond to inquiries, complaints and requests from students, staff, faculty and the public and assist in resolution of complaints, requests and problems.
