About Andrew Baker
I am currently a J.D. candidate at Stanford Law School. Previously, I was an assistant professor of U.S. history whose research and teaching focused on race, capitalism, and American society in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. I received an M.A. and Ph.D. in history from Harvard University. My first book is To Poison a Nation: The Murder of Robert Charles and the Rise of Jim Crow Policing in America, which centers on race, class, and police violence in turn-of-the-century New Orleans. It was published by The New Press. I received a B.A. in history from Yale University.
