I played a central role in the growth and evolution of INEX Microtechnology, helping transform the business from a research-led start-up into a commercially viable UK semiconductor foundry. I led INEX’s GaN programme from inception, building capability in fabrication to support applications in defence, communications, and power electronics.Alongside this, I oversaw a broad portfolio of engineering activities across compound semiconductors, MEMS, and photonics. My responsibilities covered process integration, device development, customer engagement, and technical delivery.Key achievements:• Led development and scale-up of GaN fabrication processes, including MMIC technologies, within a foundry environment.• Built and managed multidisciplinary engineering teams across process, design, and test• Delivered grant-funded and customer-led programmes in collaboration with academic, industrial, and government partners.• Introduced quality systems and continuous improvement practices (Lean, Six Sigma) to support reliable and repeatable manufacturing.• Contributed to strategic planning, funding acquisition, and long-term customer relationships.This role combined deep technical responsibility with business oversight and team leadership, bridging the gap between innovation and commercial delivery in a fast-paced, high-specification manufacturing environment.
