ABOUT ANDREW WATERS

I am a senior dispute resolution lawyer with extensive experience of managing complex and cross-border disputes, currently in house with Nationwide Building Society and previously as a dispute resolution partner at Watson Farley and Williams LLP.I am responsible for managing Nationwide’s complex commercial litigation, including an ongoing significant professional negligence claim against well-known City advisors in relation to Nationwide\'s Treasury business and previously claims relating to a portfolio sale of Nationwide\'s commercial lending book. Prior to joining NBS, my practice included a wide range of both commercial and financial litigation and arbitration matters, as well as contentious regulatory experience. In addition to my dispute resolution experience, whilst in house I have broadened my experience to include commercial contracts, data privacy, retail payments, AML, financial crime and commercial lending. With that breadth of experience, I have been able to play a central role on significant tech-related projects and propositions within Nationwide, in particular acting for over three years as the sole legal counsel (and part of the leadership team) for a team within Nationwide developing innovative digital propositions.I also take a leading role on the full range of climate change issues at Nationwide, including advising a project developing an online solar pilot proposition to support the decarbonisation of the UK’s homes, again utilising my broad range of skills (in data and contracts in particular) to provide support across the project.
