About Andrew Reed

Hey! My name is Andrew Reed, and I am from Los Angeles, California. Specifically growing up in the Hollywood area to a Salvadoran family. Growing up, I witnessed my parents working hard every day as they dealt with having multiple jobs at the same time. They inspired me to really hone into my passions of computers, programming, and being creative to potentially make a career out of what I loved to do.Currently, I reside in Los Angeles, California as a recent graduate from the University of California, Merced in Computer Science and Engineering. I was deeply involved on campus in organizations such as the ASUCM Campus Activities Board as the Website Developer and Alpha Kappa Psi, which is a professional business fraternity that has helped improved my professionalism as I inch closer to finding myself a career. I was employed at the Office of Student Involvement as the Marketing, Assessment, Website, and Data Lead in charge of spearheading the marketing of the biggest office on campus. During the summers, I worked back home and gave back to my community as a High School Tutor for students in the Upward Bound Program at Los Angeles City College. Through these different organizations and jobs, I’ve found myself improving daily in areas of leadership, public speaking, and time management.I was blessed to have completed 2 internship opportunities, the first was being a Frontend Developer for the school. After being scouted out by the Dean of Students based on my previous website work, I was created and given the Frontend Developer Intern position to work on various UC Merced pages for the Calvin E. Bright Success Center and other programs. After this, I was a Software Engineer Intern for the U.S. Department of State where I worked on building an app from scratch with 4 others. This opportunity introduced me to working within a team, how to connect pieces of frontend code with backend code, and how to document code correctly.I\'m currently planning on pursuing a career in full stack development or technical marketing and contribute to a startup or leading tech company to create impactful solutions.
