About Andrew Treadway

I have 10 years of industry experience, and am currently a Tech Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Meta (Facebook). My time at Meta has included supporting video infrastructure and music content understanding. This has involved applying machine learning to live streaming video, music content understanding (using deep learning), utilizing NLP and other ML methods to improve debuggability in the video infra stack, and improving video quality / experience. I have worked on building end-to-end ML-based solutions, which has included initiating project ideas/scope that can span 10+ teams, developing machine learning models, engineering ML pipelines, and writing production code to deploy models. Prior to working at Meta, I was involved in applying machine learning and data science expertise to several companies, including New York Life and Markel. During my career, I have also managed groups of consultants and interns, mentored junior data scientists, interviewed candidates, and led internal training sessions on Python, R, deep learning, and other technical topics. Outside of my industry experience, I am also passionate about teaching, and have taught courses related to machine learning and Python topics in several capacities, including teaching machine learning classes at Baruch College (in NYC), co-creating an online Python course on web scraping and APIs with 365 Data Science and teaching machine learning courses for Interview Kickstart. Additionally, I have written 80+ articles/tutorials related to Python or R on my blog (TheAutomatic.net), and am the author of the upcoming book,\"Software Engineering for Data Scientists\", which covers topics such as deploying machine learning models into production, scaling, object-oriented programming, automated testing, and more. My blog articles have also appeared on R-bloggers, Interactive Brokers, and R Weekly.
