I am an associate specialising in construction at HFW, particularly construction disputes.I have experience in acting for employers, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and funders on infrastructure, energy and development matters.I am dual qualified in Scottish and English law.Particular experience includes:• Acting for a joint venture contractor in relation to claims for extensions of time and an associated dispute as to disallowed cost arising on a rail infrastructure project.• Acting for the UK subsidiary of a global pharmaceutical company on a professional negligence claim against its design engineer following delay and cost overruns in the construction of a process plant, which culminated in a successful settlement at mediation.• Advising an asset manager of a portfolio of renewable energy projects in relation to a purported termination of its appointment by the owner of the portfolio. • Advising a design sub-contractor on an adjudication in relation to contract interpretation and valuation issues arising on a nuclear decommissioning project.• Advising an international bank on claims for variations, extensions of time and loss and expense relating to the construction of a new office development. • Acting for a water company in successfully defending a c. £3 million adjudication regarding assessment of compensation events under the NEC3 ECC contract.• Acting for an employer in successfully defending an adjudication regarding defects and retention at a commercial property. • Three month secondment to Rolls Royce plc’s defence aerospace division.• Advising a utility company on contract packages for a new build nuclear power plant.• Advising a major utility on the procurement of construction and O&M contracts for a battery storage project, including on the flow-down of obligations contained in its enhanced frequency response contract with National Grid.• Advising a highways authority on the negotiation of contracts to manage and mitigate the impact of a major airport expansion on the neighbouring highway.I particularly enjoy the fact that my career allows me to work with a diverse range of people. I have garnered that interest throughout my career, for example, by continuing to be involved in the University of Strathclyde\'s Friends of the Law Clinic networking supporting the work of the Clinic.
