Currently undertaking Project Engineer (Civils) role for the electrification of the Fife lines. Undertook Project Engineer (Civils) role for the electrification of the East Kilbride line. This included, numerous overbridge reconstructions, an underbridge reconstruction, platform works, station building works, OLE Civils and station footbridges. Project value ~£140 million.DPE for early Grip stages of the Fife Electrification Scheme. Building on the work done on the EWWA scheme, I led a team looking at the early stages of electrification of the Fife lines between Haymarket and Ladybank JunctionDPE for the early Grip stages of EWWA, Edinburgh Waverley Western Approaches. Developing a scheme to allow an increase in trains accessing Waverley Station from the west via the Fife Lines.

I am a Chartered Civil Engineer with 25 years experience working in the Rail Industry, for both Network Rail and WYG Engineering Ltd. Whilst employed at Network Rail, I have significantly broadened my knowledge of Civil Engineering in the rail environment: greatly increased my knowledge of other rail disciplines including, signalling, telecoms and OLE: obtained a good knowledge of the Civil Engineering Standard Designs and the design approval process. Following the successful re-opening of the Borders Railway, where I was responsible for the delivery of a large number of Civils Assets from AIP to handback, I have now taken over responsibility for both the Enhancements and Renewals Portfolios of work streams within IP SNE.I have acted as host manager for a number of Network Rail Graduates. I have successfully sponsored two candidates to obtain their IEng qualifications and acted as Delegated Engineer to five Graduates. I have also provided work experience to four Civil Engineering Students. I am also an SCE to two graduates within Network Rail.From my time spent at WYG Engineering Ltd I have gained excellent managerial skills, being responsible for team of up to seven Engineers and Technicians. This included estimating fees for projects, financial management of my projects up to £300k. I also obtained a good working knowledge of the relevant design codes particularly for railway bridge design, repair and assessment.I also really enjoy working on cars and have also undertaken writing numerous technical articles that have been published by Kelsey Media in Car Mechanics magazine.
