About Andrew Reynolds-Bailey

My name is Andrew Reynolds-Bailey, and I am a senior in the Tickle College of Engineering working towards a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering with a concentration in aerospace honors. I am currently pursuing minors in Mechanical Engineering, Heath Integrated Business and Engineering, and the Haslam Leadership Scholars program. My technical background spans engineering disciplines and industries, with experience in TV retail, sustainable building technology, firearms manufacturing, and steel recycling. I am a member of the Cook Grand Challenge Honors and NAE Grand Challenge Scholars programs within Tickle. I am also participating in the Leadership Knoxville Scholars program through the Jones Center for Leadership and Service, volunteering with the local nonprofit Yes! Knoxville to advocate for more walkable, bikeable, and transit-friendly Knoxville neighborhoods. During my time at UT, I have always emphasized the importance of research and academic discovery. In the past, I served as an undergraduate research assistant for the University’s Fluids and Structures (FaST) Laboratory, where I assisted in drop levitation experiments. Currently, I am an undergraduate research assistant in the Water Innovations, Sustainable Energy (WISE) Lab on campus. I also serve on the editorial board for UT\'s undergraduate research journal, PURSUIT. As a member of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program, I have practiced leadership and collaboration in cross-functional environments, making a difference in local businesses through real-world engineering internships while learning career-applicable skills such as entrepreneurship, design thinking, and lean manufacturing. I enjoy volunteering for various community organizations, focusing on sustainability and housing, with over 200 hours of community service recorded during my time at UT, mostly through Habitat for Humanity Knoxville and the UT Office of Sustainability. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the natural beauty of the area, trekking East Tennessee’s many mountains and natural waterways. After I graduate, I plan to pursue a master’s degree in mechanical engineering to continue my research in building technology and combine it with my love for space.

   Student Project Consultant through the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program.• Developed VBA scripts in Microsoft Excel to automate the tool and die work order process and reduce time per job. • Linked ERP & Scheduling data and work order system to aid Engineering Management in assigning maintenance job priority and free up time for other value-added tasks.• Iterated between empathy interviews and rapid prototyping to balance competing stakeholder wants and inspire out-of-the-box design thinking.
