ABOUT ANDREW PETERS

I currently the IDT lead for the Platform Design and Life Support (PDLS) business within Maritime at QinetiQ. The IDT, with a team in excess of 150 delivering the portfolio of Ship and Submarine related Programmes in the UK and Internationally. I manage the PDLS business ensuring QinetiQ\'s reputation as a world class provider of ship and submarine hydrodynamic, structures, survivability, diving and life support consultancy and Software. My previous work has being on programme and portfolio delivery, hydrodynamic facility management and technically focused on naval architecture particularly in intact and damaged stability development, assessing ship behaviour in extreme seas and damage scenarios. I have been the UK representative on the Collaborative Research Navies working group and a member (secretary) of the ITTC Stability in Waves committee (for 3 terms) investigating the state of the art for dynamic stability of ships. I currently represent QinetiQ at ITTC. I have previously led business development and major bidding for defence and commercial marine business across a broad range of subject areas, notably model testing (T&E), stability, cross-flooding and fast craft related subjects.I joined QinetiQ after completing a Honours degree in Ship Science from the University of Southampton in 1996. I became a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects in 2001.I am responsible for ensuring the leadership and delivery of the Platform Design and Life Support business within Maritime at QinetiQ.
