ABOUT ANDREW J. ABERNATHEY
I began my investing career at the age of 13, starting with public securities and drawing early inspiration from Warren Buffett’s value investing philosophy and Gary Tharaldson’s approach to simplicity and focus. Before launching into investing full-time, I was actively involved in business operations. My brother and I took over Abernathey Farms, planting, growing, and harvesting thousands of acres of small grains across multiple locations in North Dakota. That hands on business experience reinforced my belief in Mr. Buffett’s quote: “One is a better businessman because he is an investor, and a better investor because he is a businessman.” In 2012, I launched Abernathey Holdings, a permanent capital vehicle focused on long-term compounding. Today, Abernathey Holdings has three core operating divisions: • Abernathey Development – Vertically integrated Class A self-storage development and ownership across the U.S. • Normont Equipment & Crushmode – A growing network of equipment dealerships serving municipal and industrial clients. • Ozark Communities – A manufactured housing platform focused on owning and operating mobile home communities. Our mission is to build enduring businesses with high return on capital and strong operating leadership, supported by patient, long-term capital partners. Outside of business, I’m passionate about focused philanthropy. I work closely with Fargo-based nonprofit Unseen, fighting human trafficking across the globe. Just like in business, I believe in concentrated efforts that drive meaningful, lasting impact.
