WORK HISTORY
Graduate Researcher @Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact at the University of Oregon
Eugene, OR, US
In the bioengineering lab of Dr. Calin Plesa, I am developing a platform to characterize linker fusions for chimeric receptor histidine kinases on a large scale using a variety of molecular biology techniques. In this role, I have trained and mentored two undergraduate students. I have presented my research in various formats, including posters, presentations, and in writing, and for this I used technical writing and image design, incorporating Adobe Creative Cloud Software. I also process Oxford Nanopore and PacBio sequencing data using an inhouse computational pipeline, which incorporates variety of packages run on Talapas, University of Oregon\'s HPCC. Data analysis and visualization in R

ABOUT ANDREW HOLSTON
I am a detail-oriented synthetic biologist/biochemist interested in developing technologies and platforms that enable scaling of design and characterization of biomolecules. I am currently developing a platform used for the large-scale engineering of chimeric histidine kinase receptor phase fusions, which will enable discovery of sequence-function relationships. I am a tenacious, resilient researcher who excels at applying analytical thinking to numerous facets of science, be it experimental design, optimizing protocols, or developing new technologies. Seeking a challenging role that allows me to leverage these capabilities.
