ABOUT ANDREW HERNANDEZ
A proven and effective leader with nearly 18 years of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Worked in all aspects of law enforcement including custody/corrections, patrol, and advanced officer training. My experience includes working at the Inmate Reception Center as a line deputy and training officer in the Central Housing Unit for the largest jail system in the United States. Assignments at the Cerritos and East Los Angeles Patrol Stations allowed me the opportunity to serve the communities of Cerritos, Commerce, Maywood, and the unincorporated area of East Los Angeles. As a Field Training Officer in patrol, I supervised, trained and certified over 10 deputy sheriffs to be proficient in all aspects of patrol procedures. I was assigned to the Sheriff’s Department’s Force Training Unit and Advanced Officer Training Unit. As a Subject Matter Expert in Use of Force, I facilitated all aspects of Use of Force training including policy and procedures as well as legal updates. In addition, I coordinated and taught nearly all aspects of law enforcement training including personal weapons, baton, Taser, CS Gas, OC Spray, Bicycle Patrol Certification, Gang Investigator School Certification, Investigator School Certification, risk management, report writing, Constitutional Policing, legal updates, and Sergeant Supervisory School.
