   I have been a commercial banker for many years beginning my career with Regions Bank in Montgomery, Alabama. I joined Compass Bank in Montgomery heading up the development of our Private Banking operation. In 1998 I accepted the opportunity to move my family and career to Gainesville, Florida when given the opportunity by market leader Rafael Bustillo to found and manage a Private Banking operation for Compass Bank. While in this position we became the dominant Private Banking operation in the area with more than 700 physician and other professional clients in our portfolio. In 2010 the best opportunity of my career was offered to me when the chance was extended to move to Auburn, Alabama as the Market President. The move was awesome for me professionally but challenging for my wife and our two teenage son\'s. While overseeing this operation for more than 11 years we were successful in growing the market into one of the highest performing cities in the BBVA/Compass system. The bank in Auburn was very nimble as we converted away from being almost exclusively a CRE shop to a bank that was the dominant US bank in offering International banking services to Korean Automotive Manufacturers in East Alabama and Georgia. In addition, we became very skilled in providing tax free financing to Government and Institutional borrowers, C&I credit facilities and commercial real estate. In late 2020 the bank entered into an agreement to be sold, following a several month due diligence period my long career was over at BBVA. In January of 2022 I had the extraordinary opportunity to work with several of my former colleagues at SmartBank as its Regional President in East Alabama. There have been challenges but the rewards have been far outweighed by getting to work with Marsha Pinkston, Haven Duff, John Whittenburg and Scott Tukuloff. The management team at SmartBank is amazing and I look forward to us doing great things in Auburn.
