Staffordshire Gliding Club (SGC) is a not-for-profit Community Amateur Sports Club, specialising in the delightful sport of gliding. Gliding is the ultimate adventure sport, exhilarating, affordable and inclusive, gliding is enjoyed by people of all ages, physical abilities and backgrounds, a sport that requires the pilot to harness the power of nature to stay airborne. whether they’re flying locally to their club, flying long distances cross country or soaring at high altitude. Gliding is one of the least expensive forms of aviation, an air sport that represents a low impact on the environment where the fundamental aim once launched is to fly without using any energy other than that generated by the sun and wind using with zero emissions. The Club runs training and continues flying operations throughout the year, weather permitting. The main cross country gliding season running from May to mid-September. The period from September to March can be a great time to learn to fly as the club is less busy, allowing students rapid progress to solo standard. SGC is located near the market town of Stafford, the county town of Staffordshire, in the West Midlands region of England part of the United Kingdom, It is run by volunteers, without any permanent employees and with the good will of all who participate. The club has been providing affordable facilities to allow anybody regardless of ability, age or background to participate in the sport of gliding. from a one-off Air Experience flight to a lifetime of soaring and has been in continuous operation for 60 years.
