ABOUT ANDREW CARPENEAN
As an award-winning photojournalist I\'ve held positions with publications in Colorado, Oregon, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Missouri and Nebraska. I\'ve been the chief photographer at three out of six newspaper publications I\'ve worked at, a photo editor at another and a staff photographer at two papers. And I\'ve done some freelance work with three different wire service spread out over my career. The photo bug bit me while taking a photography class as a sophomore in high school. In having a fascination printing photos in a darkroom I enrolled in newspaper and yearbook journalism classes. After graduation I became an assistant to a local sports photographer, Damian Strohmeyer who was then at The Denver Post. Around the same time I studied commercial photography at The Colorado Institute of Art, now renamed The Art Institute of Colorado. Highlights over the last several years are two Leading Off images published in Sports Illustrated, both taken at Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeos. SI.com also featured a photo of mine from a Colorado Rockies baseball game as a SI Pictures of the Week. In lieu of the 2014 Super Bowl being played in New Jersey for the first time in history, the New York Daily News credentialed me to photograph the AFC Championship in Denver. I\'ve also had several images chosen as MSNBC\'s Pictures of the Week. My web address is: My most recent work is in my photo blog: which includes a variety of things. There is also a news and sports portfolio(s) as well as a brief biography and testimonials.
