Andy is a multidisciplinary environmental professional with over 20 years of experience operating at the nexus between science, engineering, planning, and public policy. He is a skilled leader, complex thinker, and exceptional communicator. Andy understands the critical role of science in planning and design and has a diverse background in geology, coastal engineering, environmental planning, and emergency management. Andy is passionate about protecting the natural environment and increasing resilience to coastal hazards and sea level rise. Andy’s responsibilities at Sea Engineering include business development, project management, government contracts, environmental review, hazard and vulnerability analysis, land use planning, sea level rise adaptation, environmental restoration, coastal engineering design support, and regulatory permitting. Andy specializes in managing multidisciplinary teams and navigating planning, permitting, and policy frameworks, acting as the critical bridge between project vision and execution. Andy has a comprehensive knowledge of Hawaii’s complex regulatory framework and extensive experience negotiating and obtaining federal, state, and local approvals for coastal and marine projects. Andy is a founding member of the Hawaii Shore and Beach Preservation Association (HSBPA) and has served on the Board of Directors for over 12 years.
