January 2025 EDIT: I am now retired from teaching after a most enjoyable 25 years in the classroom. I will still be taking on private tuition in maths and offer subject support for engineering (exam and portfolios) online. I will also continue with my virtual tours business, and spending 6 months of the year relaxing in south east Spain! Previous experience: Exam Board Experience: Principle Examiner for Functional Skills Maths Level 1, having teams of writers and markers who are managed; sampled and fed back to on a monthly basis. Attend awarding meetings, finalise papers and mark scheme for QPEC, write and mark exam papers. Published materials: Produced half the student book and teacher resource pack for GCSE Functional Maths, published by HarperCollins (Dec 2011). Creation of a resource pack for Functional Maths level 1 with 36 lessons plans and all materials required to deliver the sessions. Full Scheme of work, a course in a box.(Dec 2010). Functional Skills Additional Experience: Accepted as a Functional Skills Support Programme (FSSP) trainer, Listed on OfQual database as Functional Skills Expert. Worked with a second exam board as Principle Examiner to set up and train writers and markers for Level 2 Functional Maths. FE Teaching Experience: Taught all Key Skills at all levels, coordinated and taught A-level Mathematics, taught GCSE Mathematics; GCSE Science (Single Award); Maths and Science units for BTEC National Sport Science and similar units for Engineering. Role as a Key Skills coordinator across the College, managing a team to achieve direct claims status. Training and mentoring of staff. Coordinator of engineering Diploma OCR Technical. Secondary Teaching Experience: Supply Teacher for over 4 years, with long term contracts, predominantly for Mathematics, ICT and Science. Excellent reputation in North & East Yorkshire. Private Tuition: Over 25 years experience of one to one tuition within a STEM context.
