As the sole operator, I am responsible for the end-to-end management, engineering, and operation of a new chemical plant producing potassium acetate deicing solution for airport runways. This role encompasses technical design, regulatory compliance, quality control, and essential business management.Key responsibilities and achievements include:• Engineering & Safety Leadership: Applied Chemical Engineering principles to facility design, including determining safety parameters, performing calculations for pump and heat exchanger sizing, and conducting material compatibility assessments to ensure structural integrity and safe operating conditions.• Regulatory & Quality Control: Successfully led the initiative for AMS1435E certification. Sourced all required testing and assessed results (BOD, COD, aquatic toxicity) to establish product application guidelines and determine potential impacts on the environment and aircraft materials/equipment.• Product Development & Process: Managed all production—from raw material processing to final product. Assisted in formulation research (corrosion inhibitors, optical enhancers) and implemented process optimizations to enhance efficiency.• Business & Management: Managed plant finances and procurement, including performing cost analyses on raw materials to set target pricing and negotiating costs directly with key vendors (e.g, Olin).• Documentation: Authored and managed all critical plant documentation, including SOPs, SDSs, and process flow diagrams.
