ABOUT ANDREW ALLEN

A proven and energetic hands on GFD, with additional experience in managing HR, managing multiple business units/locations, new business start-up, major capital development and refurbishment projects, operational management support delivering organic growth, US subsidiary accounting, cash and treasury management, systems implementations and more recently the devastating impact of lockdown on the outdoor education sector and post lockdown recovery. I am ACMA qualified with over 20 years PQE, with a broad range of industry experience having worked across all core accounting disciplines within outdoor education, aviation, agriculture, entertainment and ticketing, manufacturing, retail, and FSA regulated insurance sectors. I have successfully held permanent positions and completed a number of long term interim assignments reporting to board level when employed through my own Limited company. I have worked extensively with branded and own label products, in both retail and FMCG environments for PLC, privately owned, and VC backed organisations. I have demonstrated my ability to exert and influence strong financial control, reduce costs and drive profitability, and improve operating efficiencies from a detailed understanding of the business. I have a strong commercial focus, proficient IT skills, and a hands on attitude with the ability to influence at a senior board level.I am currently Group Finance Director for the Active Learning Group, leading the Finance and HR functions across our brands and business of c.£25m turnover, and supporting an organic and acquisition growth strategy with annual capex investment of c.£5m.
