ABOUT ANDRÉ MEYER-VITALI

I\'m a multi-disciplinary computer scientist and artist. I strive to contribute to a positive vision of the future, to develop a roadmap to get there and to inspire others to discover beauty from many different points of view.My approach to work is as an ambitious and creative team-player. I enjoy collaborating in teams by motivating and inspiring colleagues, analysing problems and finding unconventional solutions.As a scientist I\'m interested in hybrid and distributed artificial intelligence. This includes learning, reasoning about and sharing of knowledge (multi-agent learning & reasoning, coordination of autonomous systems, dynamic ontologies). My goal is to contribute to the state-of-the-art in computer science and apply my experience and knowledge to solve substantial human problems and improve user experience. I\'m not just interested in data and facts, but in structures, intentions, meaning (semiotics and semantics), knowledge (epistemology) and causal relationships. My way of thinking is conceptual and systemic, profound and fundamental, without being fundamentalist. I care about the philosophical foundations of AI, as well as systems engineering (integration, software architecture, layers of abstraction, design patterns) and applications. By experimenting with theories in practical scenarios, generic architectures and systems emerge (epistemic orchestration).As an artist I\'m a passionate photographer of human culture, context, condition and creation: cityscapes, architecture and urbanism, nature, landscapes, concerts (Jazz), documentary and conceptual art. I\'m aiming at serial work and visual storytelling and eager to combine art and science. Light, composition, colours and time are basic components of photography that I aim to integrate with painting, sculptures, philosophical concepts, language, literature and perceptions of sound and music. The expression of unique personal observation and experience may eventually lead to shared appreciation of the world.As may be apparent from above, there is considerable overlap between my existence as scientist and artist and the combination of both is my strongest motivation.Curiosity, life-long learning and self-development are sine-qua-non for achieving the above-mentioned goals and ambitions.
