As a strategic leader in Indigenous Education at the Toronto Catholic District School Board, my role involves close collaboration with the Leadership Team to oversee and steer the attainment of Indigenization goals as outlined in the Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) and Equity Action Plan (EAP). Additionally, I take on the responsibility of leading, supporting, and managing all associated Indigenous priorities and specialized projects. This aligns with the Board\'s commitment to foster culturally responsive learning for staff and educators by continually developing K-12 learning resources rooted in Indigenous Ways of Knowing, supported by Elders, Knowledge Keepers and the Indigenous Education Advisory Council.

ABOUT ANDRE OBONSAWIN
With over 20 years of experience as an Indigenous consultant, educator, and entrepreneur, I am passionate about advancing Indigenous education and reconciliation in Canada. As the Indigenous Affairs Advisor at the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), I collaborate with the leadership team to oversee and steer the attainment of Indigenization goals as outlined in the Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) and Equity Action Plan (EAP). I also lead, support, and manage all associated Indigenous priorities and specialized projects, such as developing K-12 learning resources rooted in Indigenous Ways of Knowing, supported by Elders, Knowledge Keepers and the Indigenous Education Committee.In addition to my current role at TCDSB, I serve as a member of the EQAO - First Nations Collaborative Council, where I help EQAO better understand the needs of First Nations communities, address systemic and other barriers, and consult on ways to ensure assessments and reporting are more culturally relevant and responsive for Indigenous students and non-Indigenous students. I also continue to operate my marketing and design business, offering creative solutions and consultation services to clients across various sectors. I hold a Master of Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MMIE) from Smith School of Business at Queen\'s University, and I have been recognized as one of the North Bay and Nipissing Area\'s Top 40 Under Forty.
