ABOUT ANDREI NADEJDE
I had my first computer at five. At the age of eight I had my first coding experience. My father showed me how to build a simple computer game on a Z80 computer. It was a simple maze game developed in BASIC. I was hooked for life. In high school I had the chance to do my first serious work. I was part of a development team and we build an online multiplayer browser game. This is where I started learning coding best practices, naming conventions, etc. I discovered first hand just how important they were when working in a team. In college I decided to keep on learning by myself, embarking in what is, to this day, a lifelong journey of self-teaching. I think this really modeled me as a programmer. It was difficult and frustrating at times but I always pull through. My optimistic nature always prevailed. I knew deep down that if I keep at it i can do it. It is something that I always have with me and the basis of my personal motto: Do it! I started working as a programmer in college. I worked in small firms and in big corporations and I learned a lot about working in different environments, building on my experience on the way. In 2008 I joined a small startup, Point Logistix, which at that time was struggling to bring to the market a warehouse management system and just started having their first clients. I insisted on implementing a versioning system, a bug tracking and task management system. I helped the company grow and i grew along side them to the number one in Romania, having a long list of prestigious clients. In 2012 I also started doing freelance work mostly found on vworker.com(freelancer.com now). It was one of the most rewarding experiences as I was fortunate to work on a longterm project with a client that translated into a complex application and one of my greatest accomplishments. It also strengthened my confidence that I can take upon any task and complete it. If there was a way to code it, I would find it, find it quick and often improve on it.
