Kāinga Ora is the New Zealand state housing provider. The organisation collects and stores large amounts of data on its assets and infrastructure, it\'s tenants and their needs. Much of this is in the form of unstructured text. In this role, I employ my expertise in data science and Natural Language Processing to extract valuable information from text. I have deployed a range of NLP techniques, including topic modelilng to identify main themes in tenant complaints and feedback, sentiment analysis to classify tenant and public attitudes towards services provided, information extraction to determine disability status of customers from notes recorded by tenancy managers. These outputs are used to drive better, evidence-based decision-making to improve service delivery, outcomes for tenants and internal processes. As a member of a public service organisation, I have built collaborative relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
