ABOUT ANDREAS PRASSAS

I am a versatile Infrastructure & Network Engineer with a particular focus on networking and security. Having worked a range of roles – from first line Helpdesk Engineer through to Lead Infrastructure Engineer - I have a broad skillset and genuine passion for what I do.Every organisation is unique and as such, infrastructure solutions need to be tailored to meet specific requirements. I love thinking outside of the box - combining industry best practices with my own ideas to deliver solutions that work for a given situation.Some of my key achievements include: • Redesigned and implemented Head Office network and server infrastructure - adhering to high availability and information security principles; maximising service uptime; improving system and network performance; inclusion of security hardening devices and servers, and the introduction of two-factor authentication across business-critical systems. This resulted in a drastic increase in user and business efficiency, vastly increased security for PCI-DSS and ISO27001 compliant infrastructure and an estimated 30% increase in the overall solution value for money.• Strengthened relationships and solidified a chain of trust between IT, technical teams, and key business stakeholders, thereby increasing business confidence in the IT brand and operations.• Introduced an on-prem and cloud backup solution with comprehensive retention policies to protect mission-critical systems; this proved crucial for recovery and restoration of core business services during a complete server failure scenario.• Structured and heavily contributed to knowledgebase and documentation articles, diagrams, and user guides to help the team navigate complex technical issues and relieve pressure on support.I am a committed, life-long learner and as such I pick up new concepts and technologies quickly. My approach is proactive; I believe that constantly fighting fires is not constructive – rather, investing time and resources to build robust solutions serves to minimise issues and provide a sustainable foundation for the future. I have been described by colleagues as dependable, analytical, meticulous, and diligent in my work. My core values include integrity, transparency, collaboration, and exchange of constructive feedback. I strive to lead by example and to inspire those around me with a positive outlook and good humour.I am currently seeking a new permanent role that will mark the next exciting step in my career.
