Enabling In-Process Quality Control for Concrete 3D Printing• Quantified the porosity formed in Ultra High Performance Concrete mixtures by• Using optical microscope images, processed with customized OpenCV: Contours libraries to distinguish the circular voids of the underlying complex surface morphologyIn-Process Monitoring of Fused Filament Fabrication Developed a monitoring system with a high speed camera, thermal and vibrations sensors that was• Paired with a three-step machine learning architecture to reconstruct the extrusion’s thermal profiles with a testing accuracy of 91.6%, using as sole input the vibration signals from the 1D sensor attached to the 3D printer’s nozzleSpatial Property Control of Shape Memory Polymer (SMP) Parts via Process Parameter Tuning• Controlled the glass transition temperature with a variance of 17.8% around its nominal value of 45°C• Pre-programmed the transformation strain of the end SMP parts up to 16% via extrusion temperature tuning
