United Kingdom Oil Pipelines Ltd.(UKOP) is a UK limited company owning the ‘Thames Mersey pipeline’ pipeline network. Together with the ‘West London Pipeline and Storage Ltd.’ and ‘Walton-Gatwick Pipeline Company Ltd.’ systems, the 3 separate pipelines integrated into a single pipeline system are together generically known and referred to as ‘UKOP’. The 3 systems have been managed as a single entity by BPA - British Pipeline Agency Limited from the Kingsbury Control Centre since 1969. Together the systems are designed to transport bulk quantities of refined petroleum products from what were originally coastal refineries, to inland distribution terminals closer to population dense areas.
