About Andrea McDonald

With over two decades of experience in education and social impact, I lead the Safe and Supportive Schools Project at the American Psychological Association (APA), a public-health focused collaborative funded by the Centers for Disease Control Division of Adolescent and School Health (CDC-DASH). My mission is to help schools and communities better understand and meet the needs of marginalized youth. I am responsible for the success of all aspects of the project, including compliance with federal fiscal, evaluation, and reporting regulations, development and implementation of an annual work plan and budget, and provision of technical assistance and professional development to 28 partnering school districts. I also leverage my expertise in staff development, leadership development, and program development to initiate and sustain strategic partnerships with K-12 schools, higher education, community organizations, and businesses. I am a collaborator, educator, and advocate committed to creating opportunity and upholding equity for all students.
