ABOUT ANDREA PABON

One of the things I value most since arriving in Canada is the power of community. As a newcomer, the support of local organizations played a key role in helping me navigate my professional integration. That experience has also shaped the way I approach my work today.I am a project, partnerships, and social programs professional with over five years of experience in Colombia and, more recently, in Canada. My career has focused on coordinating public initiatives, advancing international cooperation, and strengthening community-based programs, always through a strategic, participatory, and impact-driven lens.I have worked alongside government institutions, donor agencies, NGOs, and community stakeholders, leading partnerships, evaluating outcomes, designing improvement processes, and implementing sustainable solutions in areas such as youth employment, migration, energy transition, peacebuilding, and social justice.Currently based in Vancouver, I am part of the YMCA team supporting the Youth Employment Bootcamp, a program designed for youth aged 15 to 30 who are looking to develop the skills and confidence needed to access meaningful employment. In this role, I contribute to strengthening partnerships with employers and workforce organizations, promoting the employability of immigrant youth through a collaborative, data-informed approach. In addition, I promote youth leadership through community spaces like the YMCA BC Young Leaders Council, support professional development initiatives as a Program Ambassador at University Canada West, and have coordinated cultural events with a social impact, such as Abande Ubuntu Ezweni in partnership with Education without Borders. I also volunteer at the West End–Coal Harbour Community Policing Centre, where I maintain detailed records supporting over 10 local safety programs and assist residents and visitors with information on crime prevention and personal well-being resources.I’m driven by collaborative environments and cultural diversity. I speak Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese and use each language as a tool to foster intercultural communication and build trust across diverse stakeholders.
