TxDOT’s Travel Publications Section encourages Texas tourism by producing engaging materials highlighting the state’s unique destinations and cultural heritage. We produce Texas Highways (the Official Travel Magazine of Texas since 1975), the Texas State Travel Guide and Travel Map, the Texas Highways Events Calendar, and more. Our work supports TxDOT’s economic goals by promoting Texas destinations and contributing to the state’s tourism economy.As Publisher:•Team & Operations Leadership: Lead a team of 20, overseeing hiring, collaboration, and maintenance of a creative, professional environment. Manage production processes and relationships with printers, distributors, and partners.•Strategic Leadership: Refine and uphold the magazine’s mission, goals, and brand identity. Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief, Creative Director, and Digital Product Manager to align content, visuals, and strategies.•Financial Oversight: Manage all expenses, projections, revenue targets, and monitoring for printing, postage, marketing, freelancers, and more. Develop subscription and advertising revenue streams.•Advertising, Marketing, Audience Engagement: Direct the ad sales team, create custom ad packages, and design media kits to secure advertising and sponsorship opportunities. Build partnerships, oversee all marketing activities, and analyze audience insights to drive engagement and inform strategy.As Section Director:•Articulate the economic impact of our publications on Texas tourism to senior leadership, legislators, and industry partners.•Collaborate with the Governor’s Office on the Strategic Tourism Plan.•Ensure compliance with state laws, administrative codes, and TxDOT policies across purchasing, IT data security, and contract administration.•Prepare planning, fiscal, and legislative documents for General Counsel, Finance, and Audit Divisions.Board Memberships:•Texas Travel Alliance: Ex-officio •International Regional Media Association: Treasurer
