About Andrea Goering
I’m an educator on a quest to improve student experiences in STEM. I\'m curious about the ways that bolstering motivation, self-efficacy, and belonging help students to overcome their fears and anxieties within STEM. How can we engineer our classrooms for connectedness,\"small wins,\" and useful feedback? How do we balance challenge and rigor with flexibility and meeting students where they are? How do we structure and grade in our classes, do some of these decisions unintentionally harm students, and can we make more supportive choices? These are the questions I\'m exploring and discussing with colleagues.I am currently seeking collaborators who ask similar questions to work together with on developing open educational resources for introductory physics and astronomy courses, and on education research on self-efficacy, belonging, and math anxiety in introductory non-majors STEM courses.
