ABOUT ANDREA WICKSTROM
I\'m Andrea, your friendly neighborhood nurse writer. My freelance writing business isn\'t a side hustle to me; it\'s my all-out, purpose-filled, faith-driven business. Here\'s why: Writing health content for online publications (like yours!) perfectly combines my education, experience, writing talent, and a deep desire to care for others. Because of that, I really love what I do. With a 25-year background in healthcare and work in multiple healthcare environments (hospital, clinic, home care, and corporate medical device settings), I\'ve honed my skills in patient care, communication, following guidelines, organization, and the art of combining ethical practice with genuine compassion. While I\'ve been journaling and writing since childhood, my professional writing journey began in 2008 when I started and led a writer\'s critique group at my church, and my nerves could only be soothed by the only thing available — giant Costco cookies (I may or may not have eaten way too many). Despite the sugar high, I successfully led the group, achieving a great turnout and even landing my first published piece. Although I have since handed over leadership to a fellow group member, I discovered they published an anthology book of their stories seventeen years after I started the group. Beyond all the buzzwords of my professional background, I\'m all about fostering genuine connections, developing lasting professional relationships, and maybe slipping in a dry-humored pun or two along the way. I may be soft-spoken, but I also say it like it is, and my colleagues and friends have always said they appreciate that about me. Now, let\'s get on with it already and get to the part where I tell you what I can do to help-I translate scholarly research articles into understandable B2B + B2C health content for businesses, consumers, and patients-I synthesize and concisely present news information to inform and gain the trust of your audience-I review, refine, and enhance previously written content to improve clarity, coherence, and overall quality. My professional experience has taught me the vital importance of placing the client at the heart of every endeavor, while as a lifelong caregiver (and supportive big sister type), I strive to offer a thoughtful, encouraging, and caring hand. So, let\'s connect, collaborate, and maybe share a virtual high-five or two! Feel free to reach out here on LinkedIn or email me ( a•••••@OneUpNurseWriter.com ) to finally get your health content needs checked off your list!
