Key responsibilities in my current role includes leading and managing a tax team split across two locations in the Financial Shared Service Center in Manchester and our head office in Northampton. Recruiting and training the right people to undertake the Tax compliance, including submission of CIS, Corporate Tax and VAT returns for the wider Group is key. Also we provide Tax advice across the business units on emerging issues, new business opportunities and acquisitions and disposals. Having recently introduced a new ERP, Oracle, my role includes full scoping and process development for the Tax department. As the processes have been established, identifying and resolving accounting issues and implementing changes and improvements. This includes sourcing new software to support our tax compliance, including expenses and PSA, CIS and Purchase Cards. Preparing briefing papers for the Board and commercial teams to inform about tax changes and liaising with senior management to influence decisions affecting tax. Develop and write process and control documentation, providing E-learning and training to relevant users. Work with the wider tax team to introduce a tax strategy and refine the SAO review and procedures to manage the tax risks of the Group following the introduction of CCO legislation. Speaking regularly to our HMRC contacts and leading the annual BRM meeting with HMRC An experienced and skillful senior adviser with a proven track record of defining and bringing into practice complex structuring and practical solutions with the ability to discuss and explain tax implications and opportunities to stakeholders with varying tax knowledge. Experienced in managing a team of tax professionals, across tax disciplines and locations.
