ABOUT ANDREA SERAFINI

During my academic career I have dealt with biodiversity, threatened species and related items. My first academic thesis deals with the reintroduction of Bison bonasus in the Bialowieza National Park (Poland). The work analyzes the causes of population decline and the actions planned to reintroduce the specie¸ comparing the criteria used with IUCN criteria. My second academic thesis deals with the analysis of amphibian population in Parque Estadual do Cantão (Brazil). The data elaborated in the work were collected during 6 months on the field (an ecotonal area between Amazonian rainforest and Brazilian bush). The work analyzes the amphibian population structure, distribution, seasonal trend and relates trapping methods to amphibian biometry. Furthermore I experimented a non invasive marking method using individual pattern photos and a special software. In recent years, I’ve been working on environmental education as chief project and educator, in many different contexts: schools, university, natural parks. In parallel I’ve been working on biology research as ICCAT Observer (International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas) during tunas fishing season in 2010. From September 2010 to March 2014 I\'ve been working as biologist for private laboratory. Environmental analysis, sampling and HACCP business consulting. Currently I’m working as environment monitoring technician for Eli Lilly company.
